Receiver Coffee
Since its opening in June 2014, Receiver Coffee has become a cornerstone of Charlottetown’s coffee culture. It started as a humble pursuit to roast quality, transparently sourced coffee and has evolved into a thriving business with three cafes, a bakery, and a roastery. And it’s all built around sustainability, community, and integrity. Owners Chris, Colleen, and Sean, embarked on this journey with a shared passion for coffee. Today, they serve as an inspiring example of how small businesses can overcome challenges and make a lasting impact.
One of the greatest advantages of running a small business in PEI for the Receiver team is the tight-knit community. They’ve built a unique bond with their customers, creating an open feedback loop that has shaped Receiver Coffee’s growth. Whether through their year-round cafés in Charlottetown or their seasonal location in Cavendish, the trio has always prioritized their connection with the people they serve. You’re not just a customer—you’re part of the family. This sense of belonging not only fuels their success, it is what makes Receiver Coffee the special space that it is.
The business has grown organically over the years, expanding their offerings while staying true to their values. Their bakery, which started in 2016, mirrors the same commitment to sustainability, using organic Canadian flour and locally sourced ingredients. Their rustic breads and pastries are baked fresh daily, earning a reputation as some of the best on the Island.
Receiver Coffee’s journey is a testament to passion and authenticity. They didn’t start with a traditional business plan. They began with a love for coffee and a desire to bring people together. Through hard work, adaptability, and a deep connection to their community, they’ve built a thriving business that embodies the best of small businesses.
